Dental Implants

Durable, Natural-Looking Restorations

Tooth loss has many repercussions. It can disrupt the balance of your bite, and make chewing and speaking difficult or painful. Fortunately, there is a solution that can restore the comfort and functionality of your smile following the loss of one or more teeth.

Dental implants, restored at our practice, can give your smile a new lease on life. These prosthetic tooth roots provide outstanding support for crowns and dentures, allowing you to chew, speak, and smile with complete confidence. If missing teeth are compromising the health and comfort of your smile, please contact us today to learn how dental implants can help you.

What is a Dental Implant?

Dental implants are essentially composed of two parts: a surgically-embedded titanium post and a dental prosthetic, such as a crown or denture. After the post has been placed, a period of three to six months is needed for osseointegration (the fusion of the post with the jawbone) to occur. Once healing is complete, Dr. Elnazer will place your dental restoration.

During an initial consultation with our dentists, you will undergo a thorough examination to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for the surgery. If your gums and teeth are in need of treatment, this must be addressed before implants can be placed. Also, if you have waited a long time to address a missing tooth, you may have lost some bone mass in your jaw. In this case, a bone graft may be necessary before your jaw can accommodate an implant. We refer patients to a trusted oral surgeon who can place implants.

Why Choose Dental Implants?

Dental implants are widely considered the very best means of replacing a missing tooth. Traditional dentures typically rest on the gums, held in place with a mild adhesive. While this certainly restores some functionality, traditional dentures remain susceptible to shifting or slippage when eating or speaking. Implant-supported dentures, on the other hand, secure your restoration directly to your jaw bone, providing the same level of support you enjoyed with your natural teeth. Meanwhile, implants can help you preserve the bone mass in your jaw. In the absence of tooth roots, the body will being to resorb bone cells in the jaw, causing the jaw to shrink. Dental implants can actually halt this process, making them an incredible investment in the health of your smile.
